Uros Ltd.
Uros Ltd, founded in 2011, is a mobile technology-focused company from Oulu, Finland, a leading local hub for ICT and wireless communications. Uros Ltd’s Goodspeed service guarantees an easy and affordable Internet use at home and abroad, free of roaming charges. The service launched in Europe in September 2012 seeks to achieve global coverage in the coming years.
The Uros founders Mr. Jyrki Hallikainen and Mr. Tommi Uhari as well as the Uros key staff have several decades of combined world-wide experience in developing wireless devices.
Executive biographies
Jyrki Hallikainen, Chairman of the board
Jyrki has a history in the mobile phone business working at the Nokia product development until 1997. Since then he has founded several mobile technology companies, among them Microcell Ltd. which he sold to Flextronics in 2004. Jyrki Hallikainen is currently an investor into a number of start-up companies. He holds a Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Systems and Information Technology at the Tampere University of Technology.
Tommi Uhari, CEO
Tommi has worked at Nokia between 1993 and 2006 in various R&D and management positions. The last two Nokia years he served as Vice President, Head of Wireless platforms for Nokia's terminal products. In 2006 he joined ST Microelectronics and worked as VP of the Multimedia and Communications Group (MMC) for several years, after which he served as Senior Advisor at ST-Ericsson. Since 2010 he has been a board member at Digia Oyj and involved in board and management roles in selected startups. Tommi Uhari has a Master's degree in Industrial Engineering and Management at the University of Oulu.
Uros Oy
Uros Oy on mobiiliteknologiaan keskittynyt oululaislähtöinen yritys, joka on perustettu vuonna 2011. Uroksen Goodspeed -palvelu takaa internetin helpon ja edullisen käytön koti- ja ulkomailla, ilman roaming- ja WiFi-verkkomaksuja. Syyskuussa 2012 Euroopassa lanseerattu palvelu tavoittelee globaalia kattavuutta lähivuosien aikana.
Uros Oy:n perustajat Jyrki Hallikainen ja Tommi Uhari kuten useat Uros Oy:n avainhenkilötkin ovat hankkineet työurallaan kansainvälisen ja pitkän kokemuksen langattomien laitteiden kehittämisestä.
Johdon työhistoria
Jyrki Hallikainen, hallituksen puheenjohtaja
Jyrki Hallikaisella (DI) on pitkä historia matkapuhelinteollisuudessa. Hän on työskennellyt vuoteen 1997 saakka Nokian tuotekehityksessä, jonka jälkeen hän on ollut perustamassa useita mobiilialan yrityksiä. Tunnetuimpana niistä Microcell, jonka hän myi Flextronicsille vuonna 2004. Tätä nykyä Jyrki Hallikainen sijoittaa start-up yrityksiin ja kehittää niiden toimintaa useiden vuosikymmenten kokemuksella.
Tommi Uhari, toimitusjohtaja
Tommi Uhari (DI) on työskennellyt Nokian palveluksessa useissa tuotekehitys- ja johtotehtävissä vuosina 1993-2006. Kaksi viimeistä Nokian vuottaan hän toimi Wireless platforms yksikön johtajana. Sittemmin hän on toiminut ST Microelectronicsin johtokunnassa (2006-2010), ST:n langattoman alan yhteisyritysten johtotehtävissä (2008-2010) sekä ST:n Wireless-yksikön johdossa vuosina 2006-2008. Vuodesta 2010 Tommi Uhari on ollut Digian hallituksen jäsen sekä toiminut start-up yritysten johdossa ja hallitustehtävissä.
